Extended Ophthalmoscopy

By using a head-mounted ophthalmoscope, the doctor can view a large area in the back of the eye all at once. Alternatively, by using hand-held lenses at the biomicroscope, your doctor can view a small area of the retina in great detail.

This examination may be indicated in the following clinical situations

  • glaucoma
  • glaucoma suspect
  • retinal disease
  • vitreous degenerations
  • diabetic retinopathy
  • ocular injury
